What We Believe

We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God and the only infallible and authoritative rule for faith and life.

We believe that God has revealed Himself in scripture to exist coequally and coeternally as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

We believe Jesus, the Son of God, entered our broken world and lived a life that reveals God to us and tells us who we are: beings created by God in God’s image who suffer in a broken world.

Jesus lived a life of perfect obedience to God and suffered and died on a cross to create the way for people to be reconnected to God, as we were created to be. God brought Jesus to life again—defeating death—and Jesus returned to his Father in heaven.

Because Jesus died and rose again, we can live in hope for a better life in this world and in eternity with God.

To connect with this new life and hope, we need to recognize the depth of our sin, accept Christ’s claim that he is the Son of God and the way to new life, and allow God to lead us into a new relationship with him.

We believe the Holy Spirit to be sent of God in order to confront humankind with our need for the saving grace of Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit is active in the world entrusting the believer with spiritual gifts and empowering them to live in a Christ-like manner.

We believe that God created the universe and all things in it. Everything that has ever existed or will ever exist does so by God’s design. Although God created a perfect creation, it has been corrupted by the entrance of sin into the world.

We believe that humankind is made in the image of God. God created all living things, yet set aside humankind as His special creation. All humankind is born with a sinful nature which leads us into rebellion against God. Because of this sinful nature, the only way that we may come to be in right standing with God is through the grace given by Jesus Christ’s work on the cross.

We believe that the Church is the Body of Christ, consisting of all believers from all corners of the earth throughout all of time. God has ordered His Church into local groups of believers known as congregations. In addition to being a part of the Body of Christ, our congregation is a member of the Alliance of Reformed Churches.
